This is a great developmental toy. Our son showed an interest in it as early as 2 weeks of age. At that time, it was mostly the music that caught his attention. As he has gotten older, he loves the blinking lights and the different sounds the orange petals make when you press them. I love that it plays a part of "The Nutcracker Suite!" He seems to really like what we call the "prince song" (it sounds like a royalty melody) and the giggling children melody (this plays right before it shuts off after being inactive a while). The only thing is that the on/off switch is enclosed in a zippered fabric compartment in the back, which is good so it doesn't scratch the baby, just a little inconvenient for mommy and daddy.

I have given this gift to many new parents and they all have raved about how much their baby loved it and was entranced by it. My niece was the first person in our family who bought one---for her first baby and since then we have sent it to many, many new parents. The only downside is when your baby figures out how to make it play, you might hear the music more than you ever dreamed, but that is fun!
